Essays
On place, memory, and attention.
These essays explore Cornwall as a lived landscape; shaped by labour, weather, and time rather than spectacle. They are not guides or histories, but acts of looking and listening: attempts to write place without reducing it to setting, and to consider how memory settles into land.
I publish infrequently, and with care. Each piece stands alone.
Editor’s Note
The essays, poems and short stories gathered here are written slowly and published infrequently. They are not responses to events, nor attempts at definition. Each piece stands alone, but all share a concern with place, attention, and the limits of interpretation.
Cornwall appears throughout - not as subject or setting, but as presence. The land is approached with restraint, and allowed to remain partially unreadable. Meaning, where it arises, does so through accumulation rather than assertion.
These essays are best read without urgency. They make no argument for themselves, and offer no conclusion. They exist as part of an ongoing practice: to look carefully, to listen, and to leave some things intact.

Note
New essays are added occasionally. There is no schedule, and no expectation of regularity.
